Nettie's Syrup - GIVEAWAY!
These are the best pancakes we’ve ever had!
My kids are not overly complimentary about food, unless they really love it! I guess they've been spoiled by their mama's cooking!
In other words, it had to taste pretty darn good to all 3, to be gushing over this new syrup that I served on their buttermilk pancakes this past week.
Not only did I double our family favorite Buttermilk Pancake recipe that morning, but our family got to try Nettie’s Vanilla Syrup on top!
Nettie’s Syrup history
I grew up in the country on a dairy farm and my mom often made her dishes from scratch. One of my favorites is this vanilla syrup.
When I got married I couldn’t imagine making any breakfast without it. Now my family can’t live without it on their pancakes. I hope your family enjoys it as much as mine.
Be creative and try it with ice cream, coffee, or drizzled over sausage. Give the bottle a shake and enjoy! Lynette

Just found your blog...LOVE IT! As to the syrup, my granddaddy use to make pan fried potatoes and then pour syrup over them for me when I was a little girl :) I haven't done that since I was 10, but the memory makes me have tears in my eyes right now.

I love to make pecan pies which use corn syrup.
Also, I have a question, Sandy. How much butter is in your pancake recipe? I wasn't certain about the "cubes" part.
Thanks!

My husband loves french toast with warm syrup. It would be great to try this new syrup. Sounds wonderful! Thanks!!
Oh my you're killin me with these photos at 7am when I haven't had my cardboard and banana for breakfast yet! Dear's grandmother was named Nettie. What a fun lady she was. I'll have to be on the lookout for this syrup. Our favorites with syrup are blintzes and Dear's Swedish Pancakes. My kids love their dad's pancakes served up fresh off the skillet one at a time to them :0)
My grandparents used to own a maple farm with a sugar shack on it waaaaaaaay back in the day up here in Canada and so as a result I've only ever grown up on Maple Syrup and have been obsessed since day 1.
Though outside of the province of Québec (where they lived), it's tough to find at a reasonable price. I'm hoping if I win this syrup I might find a wonderful (and more affordable) substitute.
My favorite recipe is one called "Grand-pères" directly translates to "Grandfathers". It's a dessert by where you boil a sort of salty dough in syrup until it thickens and the dough is fully cooked and becomes thick. It sounds kind of gross I know, but it's delicious.
We love maple syrup on oatmeal in the morning. Night before soak equal parts old fashioned oats and milk in the fridge. Next morning heat one part water (if you have 1 cup of oatmeal, make this 1 cup of water) with a pinch or two of salt. Add the oatmeal/milk mixture and bring to a simmer for about 2-3 minutes until thickened. Serve with a pat of butter and maple syrup. Even the pickiest of eaters love this!
thanks for the chance to win!

Your pancake recipe is the same as mine! Gotta love the buttermilk!!!
Besides the pancakes, I make belgian waffles and biscuits to top with syrup.
The best biscuits for syrup are homemade "cat head" biscuits.

YUMM-O! This post is making me so hungry. My favorite thing to do with syrup, besides putting it on pancakes, is to make peanut butter and syrup...mmmmmm. I love to just mix up a tablespoon full of peanut butter and some syrup and eat it with a piece of bread or a biscuit.
Going to see if I can find a store near me ☺
We use syrup on pancakes and french toast. Also great to dip sausage biscuits in! Would love to try this syrup. I looked at the website and it doesn't look like it is carried in any stores near me.
Gotta have me some of that syrup!
Besides buttermilk pancakes,we put maple syrup on oatmeal and also on biscuits. SO very expensive, tho.
A tradition in our home is for my husband to make pancakes on the weekends. He loves to experiment with flavors and the boys favorites are almond and lemon. I have lever been a lover of pancakes...they used to make me gag. But my husband makes the best...light, fluffy and thin. I can't wait to try out your buttermilk recipe! It would go great with some Netties!
Now I'm intrigued by this syrup! My husband and kids like maple flavored syrup, while I'm just a plain Karo syrup gal. This vanilla syrup sound delish!
Thanks,
Heather

That syrup sounds WONDERFUL! We love syrup on pancakes...which we eat a lot of...or french toast! Now I'm hungry for both!! Now I'm hungry!!
Pancakes and syrup are a luxury my family rarely participates in. But when we do, we enjoy a lighter syrup - some of the dark syrups are too heavy... Now, this vanilla syrup you speak of sounds good! I'll bet your pancakes taste like cookies! YUMMY!
I could do a cookie breakfast! LOL!!
We're still starting traditions in our little home, and pancakes on Saturday morning have become one of them! I confess that I've been "doctoring" my fav ready mix with sugar and cinnamon, but I'm going to definitely try to make the ones you posted from scratch tomorrow morning! YUMMMM In addition to "smell-o-vision" on TV, I'd love it on my computer too!
I've never heard of vanilla syrup! Our family would love to get our hands on a bottle to try on some of our morning favorites: waffles and pancakes. Thanks.

This syrup sounds wonderful... pancakes, waffles, & french toast are my favorites ;-)
Besides pancakes, I like to make a glaze for ham with maple syrup. It involves syrup, beer, mustard powder and spcies. YUMMO
Oh that looks super yummy!! On ice cream?? That is DEFINITELY something I need to try!!!
Hands down my favorite breakfast is Waffles, strawberries, whip cream, loaded with warm syrup. When my husband and I were dating. My roommate let him sneak in one morning. He made my favorite breakfast, brought it to me in bed, on a tray lit with candles. He proposed to me that morning! Waffles and syrup will always have a cherished memory!
I've never won anything in my life but my 7 kids would love this over their pancakes. We eat pancakes a couple of times a week. I love your blog and how you inspire me to try and be more giving. Thanks!! Amy in Indiana ajayx3@yahoo.com
Oddly enough my son enjoys peanut butter and syrup sandwiches. I've not had the nerve to try it, but with a vanilla flavored syrup I just might! :-)
What a fun and tasty giveaway! Thanks!!
Are you kidding me... I would LOVE some yummy vanilla syrup!!
And I'll for sure be trying out your pancake recipe.

Oh, yum, Sandy! I would love to try this syrup. I love to make French toast & this would be a wonderful accompaniment for that. Have a great weekend, friend!
When I was very small (preschool age) my mother made a homemade "brown syrup" and I think that it had a vanilla base. This syrup sounds delicious. Currently my husband has started a tradition of making chocolate chip pancakes with our daughters on Saturday mornings. And we use my Grandmother's buttermilk recipe--very similar to yours.

This isn't sold near me!!! I want to try!!!! I love syrup on sausage, eggs, bacon and of course pancakes!!!! Try it on your eggs!! It's yummy!!
I don't often eat pancakes or things with syrup. I think it's because I don't care that much for the syrups at the grocery. I would love to try some homemade syrup on some french toast! This is making me hungry! tsjjcoy@yahoo.com
Hmmm, that sounds SO YUMMY! Vanilla syrup? Sounds like what I like to pour in my coffee. :-)

My husband is a huge syrup fan. We would love this!
actually-- my 9 yo has a great creation. Take an icecream sandwich drizzel with syrup and throw marshmallows on top. Microwave until goopy. Eat like soup. It is amazing how good this actually tastes!
I love the idea of a vanilla syrup. We used to get the best blackberry syrup ever when I was a kid somewhere along the Skyline Dr. I wish I could remember where! We haven't been able to find it since. Ice cream has never quite been the same without it.
Now I'm hungry! :)
We love homemade waffles and pancakes. I know that's not original! This syrup sounds wonderful.
Just had lunch but I could go for a pancake!
We like syrup on pancakes, french toast, corn bread and wait for it...OATMEAL!

Love reading your blog! Anxious to learn more about the BG as my little one gets bigger!! She just turned 3...as for syrup...my mom makes homemade sour dough bread...as it loses its freshness, it makes WONDERFUL FRENCH TOAST...with syrup added...what makes it special is that my kids call her OOHWHO...so we lovingly refer to it as OOHWHO french toast...she is 500 miles away but when we eat it...we talk about OOHWHO!! I like buckwheat pancakes fried with crispy edges with syrup. My grandmother always used to make them into fanciful shapes when she poured the batter on the pan -- she was pretty creative at helping us see the sheep, or face, or apple in the pancake design.

This is a first for me, leaving a comment, I'm blog challenged, but just have to tell you that if you have never tried syrup over hot buttered GOOD SOUTHERN cornbread (no sugar, PLEASE) you just haven't lived. When I was growing up in the rural South, this served as our desert many times when the food budget was stretched thin. I enjoy your blog. Carolyn
I love doing what my popaw used to do.He would take syrup and mix in a little butter and dop his biscuit in it.Yummy.
Barbecue sauce just doesn't seem the same without maple syrup. Since I use my homemade sauce in so many things, I'd have to say it is my favorite recipe using syrup.

BEST PANCAKES EVER!! I've always had to use my mother-in-laws recipe b/c it's what my hubby loves. I traded for this recipe today after church and he noticed that I was even using a "different skillet" (long story) so I had to fess up before he even tried them and tell him that I was trying something new! I just about fell out of my chair when he smiled and said that they were wonderful!! YES...even better than his Mom's! I ordered some Nettie's syrup the other day so, I can't wait to try that too!! Thanks for sharing the recipe! It's a Keeper!
