Easy-Stir Banana Bread!

I truly do think that my daughter, Abby, is the next Pioneer Woman. Let me tell you why.

Banana Bread is like candy in our house.

It never lasts long and is devoured quickly.

I laughed to myself the other day when I saw black bananas in our laundry room. Then Abby told me she put them in there to ripen up (and the real reason – so her brothers wouldn’t eat them!), so she could make her beloved banana bread.

I’m totally out of the picture now when it comes to Abby making her specialty. In fact, I think the reason why she loves to make it (besides the flavor) is because you don’t have to get the big Kitchen Aid mixer out!

You just stir it by hand!

Taken from my mom’s church cookbook, it’s the best banana bread recipe ever! And given that Abby took most of these photos herself for a project, I'd say she's pretty organized, just like
The Pioneer Woman!

Last school year, for Abby's “How To” project, the kids had to make a recipe in their own kitchen, and then write a report with power-point, and give a speech about it. And then the classroom benefited by being able to sample the goods.

The goods never last long in our house. Even as Abby was taking it to school we were all trying to grab a piece.

I wonder how my daughter learned to lay all of those ingredients out?!

Do your kids have special recipes that they love to make?

This was fun! What a great project for school, too! The best recipes are found in those church cookbooks, aren't they? I'm going to try this one!

Yeah for church cookbooks, for sure! that looks so good and sooo easy! I wonder if she got an A! I've got black bananas waiting for me in the freezer and now that the cool weather has come for a little teaser, I'm soo in the mood to bake!

I LOVE banana bread but am usually too lazy to make it! This one sounds easy, so I'm going to give it a try.

It looks delish! This is going to sound like an idiotville question but what is a cube of margarine or butter? Does it mean a stick or basically 1/2 cup? Sorry...just never heard that "CUBE" term.

I love that she laid all the ingredients out and took pics! A girl after my own heart. haha We *love* banana bread at our house too. A loaf is gone in a half day! Except we don't like nuts! Thanks for sharing this recipe. (I use the recipe out of the old Betty Crocker cookbook)

Yes, my youngest who is 9 makes this simple white cake. http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Simple-White-Cake/Detail.aspx We love it. She adds a little more milk and vanilla than the recipe calls for, and it is heaven! My oldest makes a banana bread without pecans that is her very own specialty dessert.

Looks wonderful! My girls are just happy to "help out" in the kitchen! However, it won't be long until they are cooking up their own recipes!

And I will go for three...is a cube equal to a quarter pound aka a 'stick of butter'?

I can totally relate to your daughter. I have six brothers and I am the only girl. When I was growing up, I would plan on ingredients I needed for something I was going to cook and I would have to hide things like chocolate chips in my bedroom so that my brothers couldn't find them and eat them before I could use them. If they would just have waited they could have a real treat like fresh chocolate chips cookies. Dumb boys.

I love it when kids cook, such great experience, but they also feel such independance. My daughter has a little notebook with recipes that are simple but yummy and we add to it as we discover new ones. She really enjoys making Pumkin Pie in the fall, and Cupcakes (that start with a mix) year round.

I'm always on the lookout for good banana bread recipes. I seem to collect banana bread and pound cake recipes for some reason.

One of the best things my mom ever did for me was to teach me to cook. When I was little, she talked me through what she was doing in the kitchen and taught me how to stir and measure. When I got older, my brother and I were responsible for one meal a week in the summer. Every Thanksgiving, she made me responsible for cooking one of our family's holiday classics.

I'm trying to do the same thing with my kids now.

A cube of butter = 1 oz. = 2 tablespoons.

Hello all - 1 cube of butter in this recipe is like a stick! Which is 1/2 cup!

ENJOY! I've already heard that it tastes yummy, just like Abby makes it! :)

I love, love, love to make quick breads...especially banana bread and pumpkin bread...oh, yum!

My daughter and I love to make chocolate chip cookies together. I make the dough with egg substitute instead of real eggs, mostly because we both have a knack for eating the dough. ;o)

Thanks for the correction. If you zoom into the picture, the butter stick is a 4oz.
