Yes, the kitchen is the heart of the home. I'm definitely feelin' the loss of it, with the weather changing, and the desire to hunker down and to cook some comfort meals!
So every time I walk by this hole ...
I'm anticipating what will be baking here soon, and the delicious smells that will soon permeate the house!
You know it's time for the kitchen to be finished when your kid tells you, Mom, I hope we're not having Taco Salad again for dinner tonight!.... (sigh).
Oh yes, I'm terribly missing my oven, but the good news is that my Dad and his helper (his wife, Ginny, my step-mom, the kid's Grandma) came to hang the window and doors last week. And after a few snags on the cabinets - we're now getting a lot closer to completion.
Grandma Ginny even baked us cookies and brought us some canning that she'd done over the summer (no canning here - my pantry is almost bare)! I think she knew how desperate we were for "homemade." You should have seen our kid's eyes light up when they saw the goodies arrive.
I love how she added a festive "autumn" flare with Peanut M&Ms to the cookies!
To be honest, I'm sick of the dust, dirt, camping kitchen, delays. But it's all okay. I'm giving thanks every day because we have so much, and good things are in store.
It's just a lesson on patience, something I've needed more of - and it's building character in all of my family members.
Plus, we realize with the big scope of the economy, as we eat together, have a place to live, and our health and each other, the kitchen remodel is just an added blessing.
Oh, and here's a picture of what my space looked like last week!
So off to the garage to get my dishes done ...

Hang in there! I love the glimpse of your new kitchen!!! Can't wait to see the finished product!
My 17 year old!!!
But just think -- your particular problem will be over in a few weeks while mine is still with me until next fall! Oh Lord help us both!!
ooooohhhh! So fun to see a little sneak peak of the kitchen! I like what I see so far. Your cabinets look beautiful (and do I see paint on the walls? :-)). It won't be long now. You're one patient woman to live there during the process though! Hope you have a good day...

Lately I feel like everything is trying my patience. Honestly, I think the good Lord is just trying to shake me up a bit and I haven't been the best respondent. But, I am improving.
I'm in awe of your kitchen already and it isn't even done. I cannot wait to see it!!!
It's coming together! The reward will be so worth it when it's all said and done.
I'd have to say homeschooling is a work of patience for me right now-it's had it's hard moments for sure, but I know that it's so worth it in the end!
Can't wait to see the kitchen when it's all done. Love the paint on the walls too!
Oooooh it's going to be wonderful and you will be so glad you did. We are seasoned renovators ourselves, so I know the outcome will be more than you could imagine. Can't wait for the big reveal.
Oh girl. Praying that God will send a few good distractions your way to get you out of that garage :0)
During these comfort months my impatience is that I want to be back in my home in Washington. Again the Lord teaches me to be content and to wait on Him...
I know what you mean. We went 7 weeks without a kitchen in our remodel. The heart of the home becomes really obvious in that time. It is worth it! Hang in there. I can't wait to see what you post with a new oven in place.

Hmmm, my new kitchen experienced a hiccup. The LG HiMac countertop on the island was done fabricated properly. After much delay and dealing with the manufacturer and fabricator, it was taken out and returned. Now I am starting over. In the meantime, my island countertop consists of plywood. Sigh.
Your new kitchen is looking beautiful! I love what I can see of your new cabinets. Good job!
Hang in there! I remember. . .

Now I really can't wait to see your beautiful new kitchen! Won't be much longer now...hang in there! I remember we used a bathroom and a microwave before our kitchen was completed. That was before we had kids to feed though... :)
Getting my window, door and baseboard trim up on my main floor is trying my patience!!!!!
Oh sandy I can't wait for this to be done for you!!! I understand completely!! At the moment the only thing trying my patience is no Internet at home!!!
I can't wait for the photo grand tour of your kitchen!! What's your first meal going to be?
I feel your pain, hang in there the reward will be worth it.
