A Beautiful Garden!

Meet my Guest:

No, this is not my garden.  To be honest, mine is a little bit messier and weedier right now...

I met Cynthia, from An Accomplished Woman, at Blissdom in February.  As a bunch of us girls were sitting around, having a great time, and I was drawn to this lovely woman sitting off to the side. Cynthia has become a great friend and we both share a similar love:  hospitality.  I'm so happy she agreed to share her beautiful garden with us today.  I think you'll really enjoy reading through her posts too ... so check out An Accomplished Woman!

Thank you Sandy for inviting me to your wonderful site. Sandy is an inspiration as a lovely hostess that gives other women confidence to open their homes to friends and families. Sandy asked me to share my garden with her readers.

I have not been a gardener for very long and always wanted a vegetable garden. However, most vegetable gardens are dowdy. They are functional but not very pretty. So I approached my vegetable garden as I did my home with one goal in mind; Making the garden beautiful.

Especially important, as my garden is visible from the street and my neighbors walk by it on a daily basis.

Like accessories in the home add beauty and personality to every room, accessories also add beauty to the garden and make it a pretty place to visit.

Plants, like paint, add color to the garden.  I dropped these willow trellises in the beans. Now the beans have a place to climb. Around each bed, I added iron fencing from a inexpensive discount store to guard against rabbits but the fence also sets off each bed.

For example, lavender adds incredible texture and color to any garden, not to mention the butterflies and bees the plant draws to the garden. Last year, I bought this plant for $5.

Like a home, it doesn’t have to be expensive to be beautiful.

Recently, I hosted a party for 75 friends and neighbors. Most of the guests ended up in my garden, walking through picking cucumbers, herbs, cabbage and peppers.

I am convinced the beauty  of the garden that drew them into it.

I hope you enjoyed the walk through my garden and thank you again Sandy for letting me share it with your readers.  ~Cynthia

Next post: I'm giving away a Briefcase BBQ Grill!  It's so COOL - so come back tomorrow to enter!

Hi Sandy! It was so much fun to see Cynthia's garden here on your blog. That is one gorgeous garden, isn't it?

Cynthia is quite accomplished at all things homey...not just gardening. The girl amazes me with her menu and meals.

What lovely pictures...I've always wanted my garden to look beautiful, but it still look quite a bit to "functional" for my tastes. I love the willow trellises, must get some of these! ;)

Thanks for sharing today Cynthia! That is such a beautiful garden-I can't say so much about mine-it's more function than pretty. I loved looking at these pictures!

And I always enjoy your guests Sandy!

Such a beautiful garden!! I am a gardener, but have hesitated to do a vegetable garden, one reason being the lack of "lookin' pretty"! But your garden is very lovely & very inspiring!! I'll have to plan something similar for mine next year! I know Hubby would love the fresh produce to cook with! :)

I was so hoping that I would win the Best Nesst journal. I am retired; don't have much money, so if ever you have an extra journal that you would like to get rid of; please let me know.

The garden is just gorgeous!

I'd like to know, what are you growing & if you have any special tips for keeping the weeds down.

Hi, Cynthia, great to see your garden here. I'm totally impressed. My hubby takes care of our garden, but I would love for it to look more like yours. Hope you're doing well & look forward to seeing you again at Blissdom.

Wow! I never thought to add items to reflect beauty in the garden! I'm going to keep my eyes open for season-ending sales for next year's garden. What a great tim, Cynthia! You have a gorgeous garden!

I'm inspired too!
