Make a New Memory on the 4th of July!

Happy 4th of July to all my friends and family!

I'm gearing up for the 4th, are you?

1. Box of yard sale canning jars - $1 for all

2. Flowers from my friend Jeannie's yard - FREE

3. My flower arrangements will be made for less than $1

And we're making my mom's delicious frozen goodness - Millie's Vanilla Homemade Ice Cream!

Millie’s Vanilla Ice Cream
Beat 3 eggs, 1 quart ½ and ½ and 1 quart of whipping cream.

Mix in ¾ cup white sugar and ¾ cup brown sugar; 1 tsp. salt, and 2 ¼ Tbs. vanilla.

You can use an electric ice cream maker, or do it the old-fashioned way.  The traditional way that I grew up with, where you'd sit on the ice-cold freezer while your Dad and Grandpa did all the cranking ... and then you got to lick the paddle: YUM.

Your family will think that they've died and gone to heaven.

It's that tasty.

Let's celebrate our country's freedom!

And enjoy the freshness of summer!

Watermelon and good ol' American 4th of July food!

And award-winning, Millie's Vanilla Ice Cream! (Award-winning in my family!)

Have you thought about starting a new tradition with your family this year?

(Photos:  My favorite childhood memory - Abby licking the paddle. And my charming St. Louis cousins - Johnny, Paul and Maggie.)

Oh what a memory! I think my right arm is still bigger than my left from all the "cranking" I had to do as a kid!

Happy 4th & MAY GOD KEEP HIS HAND ON AMERICA!

Homemade vanilla ice cream...yum!
Love the photos especially of the three cuties with the watermelon!!
Have a wonderful 4th of July celebration. We're having a crowd over and barbecuing tri-tip for sandwiches. I'm trying a new put-together with cous-cous and a pre-packed Costco tuscan salad. I'll let you know how it turns out. (It's for my vegetarian friends)

Your mom's ice cream recipe is very similar to mine. I am convinced the brown sugar is what makes it taste so very lovely!
Have a great one!
Oh, btw, are you all recovered?
Take care.

What a great tradition. The ice-cream sounds YUMMY!

Since we moved to our little town (right outside the big city), we are fortunate enough to live on the street where the annual 4th of July parade starts. We head out early, walk up and down the street & checkout all the action before the parade begins. Our little man LOVES the bagpipes and fire trucks. We just walk back and it was a blast.

But I definitely want to start another family tradition since LL is old enough to enjoy it!

Great ideas! We always take part in our towns parade-that's a blast and a must do for our family!

And there really is nothing like homemade ice cream! Yum!

That icecream sounds so yummy and I always want to try my hand at homemade icecream but it scares me to eat egg without cooking it.
