A tradition of mine every Mother's Day is to send out Mother's Day cards.
But my focus is somewhat different.
My focus is on older moms and younger moms.
Moms, that in some small way, I can be of influence to, being a mom of teenagers myself.
And to older moms who, in amazing ways, have influenced my life.
I want to thank my older friends for being a gift to me and for teaching me.
I want to encourage my younger friends, and tell them how proud I am that they are such good mommas.
Did you know you can get 50-cent cards at Grocery Outlet or at a discount store?
50 cents is a pretty reasonable way to tell someone that you care about them.
Have you thought about encouraging a mom, other than your own, this Mother's Day?

I want to start being more encouraging to others like you have shared. I have a drawer full of cards that I can personalize. I know how I feel when I get an unexpected note. It is such an encouragement, and can't wait to fix some of those cinnamon bites. Have a wonderful Mother's Day. Jackie
What a wonderful idea!!
The Dollar Tree sells card 2 for $1 and have a nice selection!

I used to send them out all the time...but the last year I stopped. Not sure really why.
Your a great person.
this is a great idea! thanks! kelly
I am sending a card to my best friends mother b/c she has been so welcoming and kind to me..even more than my own family.
It seems like I find myself having your ideas pop into my head at the coolest times. Yesterday it was in discussing a seniors dinner celebration. We are using the clear glass idea with floating candles. Among others. The other day I thought of you and mentioned you on my post because of my little girls made a great tablescape...
I always buy my cards from Dollar Tree or Family Dollar since they are 2/$1.
I stock up on ones I like throughout the year and fill up a shoebox with them. Then I can "shop" in the comfort of my own home when I feel like reaching out to someone.
:)
I put all my cards in the mail Monday! My aunt absolutely insists that I only spend .50 on a card. She gets very angry if I send her a "fancy" card!
What a FANTASTIC idea!!! I enjoy your blog so much because I always get such wonderful ideas from it...thank you SO MUCH for sharing with us!!!

Another lovely encouraging idea Sandy! I think we talked about me being a guest in June... :0)
It's so funny that you posted this today...I sent out about 15 cards just yesterday. It's a small thing that can mean so much.
Great idea!!! :) I wish we had more moms like you in my church. Our MOPS group is desperate for mentors, but the moms of older kids and the older women are more interested in lunching and shopping. :( I am going to send a card to someone today!! :)
I love this idea - in an age when it's rare to get something hand-written in the mail, a card is even more special. I needed to be reminded! Thank you!

Fabulous idea! What would the world look like if we each took every opportunity to encourage someone else!
Oh what a wonderful ministry. Thanks for sharing with us. What a sweet way to encourage! Many Blessings. I hope you have a fabulous Mothers Day.
Blessings,
Sherry
Sandy - Thanks for posting on my blog and I, too, am happy to know another Oregon blogger! You are a blessing!

What a fabulous idea! As mom, we need all the encouragement and kind words we can get.
YES, I mailed a handful of cards yesterday. I included my two daughters who are Moms. I remembered a recent widow, she is the mom of two grown men and my former co-worker; also, my elderly aunt; a young Mom who adopted two children from Ukraine and it is not going well with the teen girl they got; and I sent one to my 71 yr old sister. I got a real thrill doing this. I found .44 cent cards at WalMart and they were very suitable.

Mom of 3, Stepmom of 2, Grandma of 13 1/2 children (so far).
Love it Sandy - That is such a great idea...especially when there are a lot of mom's that don't feel very appreciated!
That's a great idea, Sandy. Happy Mother's Day!
