First BBQ ...

I’m happy to say that even though it was chilly out, we had our first BBQ of the year last week.

Our family rallied together to made it happen!

Throwing down a tablecloth

Getting the BBQ ready

On-sale chicken thighs

With quick and easy seasoning

Mixing veggies

It was 8:30 when we sat down to eat.  It was dark outside, but we had the torches lit, a candle on the table, and the moon was shining bright.

The most important thing was that the 5 of us were together.

Our meal wasn’t fancy, but it was healthy, and our family conversation was robust, as our son had just returned from his first Greyhound bus experience, visiting our friends up north.  We laughed our heads off at some of the interesting (scary!) bus stories …

Have you had your first BBQ this season?

And what did you serve?

My husband cooks on the grill in the snow and with an umbrella so there is no "grilling season" for us. He did a beef ternderloin for Easter. But I will be glad when we can comfortably join him outside :)

We grill year 'round, tho we have nasty, cold, snowy winters! But tonight we are also having legs and thighs, on sale this week at our local grocers, and we will be able to sit outside and smell the heavenly smells, as the high's today should be around 70!!!!
Ha! I had to laugh at the Grayhound comment! I recently took one from Michigan to Montana and back again,to visit our newest baby granddaughter! I could write a book! Such scary folks on those buses!!!

We've already had several BBQ's here in Mississippi. The last one was Easter Sunday and we had BBQ chicken, smoked sausage, Baked beans, coleslaw, coconut lime cake and fresh strawberry pie. I know it's not a traditional Easter dinner, but it was sure good!!!

First visit here, and you will see me again. The Lord tugged at my heart strings yesterday concerning your balcony girls...what a complete inspriation. There will be untold stories of life successes due to your nuturing those delicate seeds. We do camp often with friends and BBQ, but we also treasure the times when it is just our little family off to make some memories. Great, terrific blog.

We had our first barbeque but I have not had guests yet. I think we will have people over next week....

You are always an inspiration and I might add, ahead of the game.

The grill is on our back porch and is used all year. However, I have not done anything in regards to getting the outside set up for summer. It's still to cold to eat outside here in Pennsylvania.

Okay, if you're all in shorts, your definition of "chilly" must be very different from mine!!!! We had our first weiner roast of the year on Tuesday ~ some of us still in our winter jackets!!

Well, in Florida the only thing that keeps us from the grill is rain. And not even that stops us sometimes.
My husband grills a great steak! Sam's Club has good prices and Dales steak seasoning is our marinade.
We had grilled steaks last Saturday.

Yes we did have our first BBQ. Pulled the barby out on the deck and had steaks, baked potatoes and salad. Yummy!
We weren't quite as brave as y'all though we ate inside. The Barby is out but the patio furniture is still in the garage loft :0)
Have a wonderful weekend...

Looks good-we're waiting on the snow to stop flying! (Silly high dessert weather) maybe this week, it's "supposed" to warm up! You're making me excited to fire up that grill!

I'm envious girl! I don't know how to use our grill and my 'Grill-Master' of the house is away all summer long. Shoot. Maybe I can talk my neighbors into teaching me how to crank that bad boy up b/c a bbq right about now sounds good!
So glad you had a good dinner with the family. Those are truly the best times when all are together!

I'm with Susan. My husband grills rain or shine. He has a neat set up with an umbrella and tiny white lights! We've had hamburgers in a freak snow storm :-)

We were lucky, we had our first BBQ back in early March! We had my absolute favorite...burgers! With cheddar and guacamole. And sides of mac & cheese and scalloped potatoes. Yum! Just thinking about it makes me want to grill out tonight! I love to BBQ!

We have been grilling, but we haven't eaten a meal outside! Tomorrow night we are planning to have friends over and we are grilling - that will be a first for the season!

We have had a barbeque already! My daughter's birthday was the end of March, and we grilled hamburgers and hot dogs. (We did eat inside though, does it still count?)

We LOVE to grill! My hubby cooks an awesome burger. We love to cook almost anything on the grill. Lately it has been chicken thighs too. But we ALWAYS make sure to throw on a package of seasoned drumsticks so we have yummy cold chicken ready for lunch the next day...AND chicken breasts for easy grilled chicken salad. There's nothing better than pulling out already grilled chicken, ready to top a yummy salad!...or cut up and mix into...you name it! Yum! Next on the grilling menu...Tri-Tip!

Sandy, we haven't bbq-ed yet. It has snowed every week for weeks. You know, it snows...melts, snows again...and then melts. Ugh! Today is beautiful and it makes me want to go up in the mountains on Sunday to cook our supper over a fire.

Have a blessed day!

Hey!!! We have the EXACT SAME GRILL! LOVE IT!

We BBQ year round ... so we've had a lot of BBQs already -- but one funny story -- about a month ago, I tried out a new rotiserie chicken marinade. I wanted to cut up the whole chicken and grill it. My husband wanted to keep it whole and rotiserie it. He won. Little did he realize that rotisering on a colder day takes a LOT longer. Three hours later... the chicken STILL wasn't done, and we ended up taking it off the grill, putting it in the refrigerator, and ate sides for dinner. The following day he finished cooking it in oven.

Plan, plan, plan! Timing is so important!
