I am Inspired!

Those who bring sunshine to the life of others cannot keep it from themselves. --James M. Barrie

These are some of the descriptive phrases that I have been reading from the fabulous book, Ruth Bell Graham, Celebrating the Extraordinary Life, from the chapter, Others: she brings out the best in others, helping others, complete acceptance of others, helping the underdog, an enormous capacity for others, a positive person … the list goes on and on.

From what I am reading about the extraordinary Mrs. Graham, and as I glance at the beautiful picture of her years ago, in her apron with a glowing smile on her face, I tend to think higher thoughts and I feel a little bit more motivated. Not a self-centered motivation, but an outward drive to pursue others.

I appreciate the fact that she had a simple, yet so classy way of living. It was comfortable but not extravagant. The truth is that she touched lives - over and over again.

I am once again inspired by the need to watch, learn and read about older, mature women.

Oh, that someday someone would describe my life as 'simple, but classy.' Guess I've got my work cut out for me!!

I heard Dr Laura tell Dr Dobson on his show at one point that what surprised her most about doing her radio show is how many people have had to essentially "raise" their parents in our mixed-up culture--how the generations have flipped that way. Maybe it's time to get back to the younger women being able to look to us older ones for an example. Great post!

APRONS - What a lovely photo to accompany your post. My Mom wore aprons and so did my Grandmother. I wonder why we younger generation of women think we don't need them? Interesting thoughts you provoke. I am the oldest generation in my family still living and I must remember that I inspire the younger ones coming up - with 12 grandchildren watching me as their example, plus 2 grown daughters and one daughter-in-law.

Thanks for your terrific insight once again.

The apron is beautiful. I'll be sure to look for the book, it sounds like and enjoyable one.

Loved the story of the Balcony Experience in the previous post. You are a treasure!

Another inspiring post. I hope my guests feel comfortable in our home, but the truth is, I often go a bit overboard when I entertain, so I am fairly stressed out by the time the visitors leave. I will take your words to heart. Thanks for sharing them!
