JOY to Joy!

And the winner is (drum roll) … Joy, from Ontario, Canada!

Congratulations, Joy!

Joy won the Happy Coughlin Box, which will be delivered to her front door. I printed and cut out the comments (all 40) and placed them in a big orange bowl. I then had my hubby Paul draw the lucky winner, so I wouldn’t be tempted to cheat – LOL! I say “tempted to cheat”, because I really wanted all of your to win!

I may do this again soon, so keep checking back.

Now, back to what my mission for this blog is all about… helping people move out of their comfort zones and into the lives of others.

What hinders you from entertaining?

PS: You can check out Joy here. But mostly, I am in love with her dog Wilbur.

Isn't Wilbur adorable?

Yay for Joy winning a Happy Coughlin box! She'll be an even happier girl when it arrives! Wilbur isn't real, right? He's a stuffed animal from a toy store?! Is he a sheepdog? He looks like a great doggie to sleep with!

I'm hindered by not being a good cook and worried it might not turn out. I also fear having new friends over that might not understand my meal not turning out and just plain awkward conversation if it is someone I don't really know that well. Silly I know....

I wish it were me, but I am happy for Joy! Wilbur IS adorable - he's gotta be real, right?? Although he looks almost exactly like a stuffed animal of Hannah's!

Hi everyone!

I'm taking everyone's answers seriously for future posts (when I asked, what hinders you from entertaining?)

And YES, Wilbur is real. Click onto the link of Joy's site, and you can see more pictures.

Unbelievable, in my eyes. I know we are not suppose to covet, but I WANT WILBUR!

What hinders me is probably time. It seems like we're so busy during the week with work and kids' activities that when the weekend comes all I want to do is hibernate. Probably also perfectionism - the house has to be clean, the food great, and I have to be "entertaining" (which as an introvert I never feel I am.) It overwhelms me, even though I know it really doesn't have be perfect.

I always hafta ask my husband if he thinx things went well (or not) after we host company, for reassurance for myself, cuz I always see all the things that went wrong, or that didn't go as I planned, or the something I forgot to dust, or the stupid things I said--all the negatives.

I did it again... at Tyler's 18th birthday party on Sat... for 25 boys... after they were all done eating... I opened the frig and saw that I had FORGOTTEN to put out the fruit tray!!! And that's because I had forgotten to put that item on the menu that I had posted on the frig door... and I post my menu because I am always forgetting some food item when I entertain!! Will I ever learn?!
Congrats to JOY!!

Wilbur is adorable . . . he looks like a big stuffed animal.

What keeps me from entertaining is a messy house and I don't cook very well. I suffer from Martha Stewart-idous.

Wilbur IS adorable! I think I'm in luv!

OK, back to entertaining..I really, really have enjoyed what I've read on your blog, Sandy, & can't wait to read more. I think we have a lot in common...kindred spirits. I have the gift of hospitality, but don't always use it. I think I tend to wait for others to make the first move & so nothing happens. I have just met all the neighbors right around me (some in the beginning & some just recently). We are new to our town & neighborhood & determined after we moved in that our neighbors weren't all that friendly with each other...they are as nice as can be when you talk to them, but we all don't really know each other. So, I have decided to invite about 12 neighbor families over to our house for a dessert gathering in about a month...everyone can bring a dessert, we'll provide coffee & beverages (and of course I'll make something too) and hopefully, this will break the ice & help us all to get to know each other better. I think we all tend to wait for the other person to do it first...and then nothing happens. That's what I've found out anyway.
This is fun to talk about...I will be back often.

Oh....and I forgot to say what hinders me from entertaining...
Well, I'm insecure about my cooking and about people being bored...and to be quite honest don't know WHO I would invite to my house...I don't feel like I have any friends who would be interested in visiting me. I just don't know how to get it going, but I really want to!
I do try to cook a special meal every Wed night and have my daughter and her husband and little 7 month old over...the commitment to this is giving me "practice" for others...but we really don't have any couple friends...isn't that awful?

I think he is the cutest dog I've ever seen. (Next to my dog of course). :) I thought he was a stuffed animal! He looks so cuddly and fun.
